Michael is talking to Blast about New Moon:



BLAST: If you had to pick a side, would you really be Team Mike, or choose between Edward and Jacob? Or are you contractually obligated like I’m guessing Kristen is to be ambiguous?

MW: I actually… between Edward and Team Jacob, I’m actually Team Jacob. I like Edward, but I… and I think it’s more of a gender thing more than anything else. I think Jacob represents more of a practical relationship, so I’d go Jacob -– but if there is a legitimate Team Mike that emerges, I will be happy to join it.

BLAST: Bella does some crazy stuff in “New Moon.” Did you do anything so daring in high school?

MW: You know, [laughs] one thing that I used to do was go into the local high school with my car with my friend in the passenger seat and do really lame donuts and stuff and every now and then I’d get into little shenanigans like that. The most dangerous thing I did as a kid was, my grandma lived in the senior center, well not a senior center, more of a neighborhood. [Laughs] This is just so lame I can’t believe I’m telling you, anyway, and kids weren’t allowed to walk around unattended so my cousin and I would just walk around and avoid security.

BLAST: That’s pretty bad ass.

MW: Oh now that I think of it –- when I was a kid, I actually grew up in a mobile home and there was actually what I later discovered to be meth lab right across from me. My neighbor and I would play cops and bad guys and we would spy on them and follow them around and stuff because we knew they were bad, but we had no idea.

BLAST: So has that ass shaking dance [from outside of the diner in “Twilight”] always won you the girls?

MW: Oh sure, that thing has followed me around like you wouldn’t believe [laughs]. No, nothing like that ever seemed to work in real life. I was similar to Mike Newton in high school — I hope I wasn’t that annoying — but that was my angle: “I’m the quirky guy, love me please.” But that never quite worked.

BLAST: So you said at some point they almost didn’t include the movie scene in New Moon? What’s that about?

MW: You know it’s a tricky thing when you try and turn a book into a movie because a movie is only two hours and there’s only so much you can fit in, but yeah, what they originally did was they took that moment between Jacob and Bella and put it in a different scene of the movie. Luckily Taylor and Kristen lobbied that scene for me to Chris Weitz saying it absolutely had to be in, and it’s a good scene. They weren’t really lobbying for me, it’s just, how can you not have that scene in there? Yeah, so I was really happy to hear that, and it was great for me because I got to do Mike’s best scene in the book.

Which type of Robsessed are you?

Here's a list of the different types of Robert Pattinson fans. Which one do you consider yourself?



- The “Minions”

They put Rob on some pedestal and act like he’s the best at everything in the entire world. All his films deserve to be award winners, he should get more awards, and basically every person needs to bow down to this awesomeness. Anyone that says anything bad about Rob should go to hell. They’re known for their extreme voting abilities, negative thread deletions, and Lainey Gossip write-ins.

- The “Wannabe”

They try to emulate Rob by listening to the same bands he likes, reading the books he reads, and wearing the same clothes as him. They were once very preppy… now they’ve become a hipster. They also deny that Twilight exposed them to Rob because it’s not a cool book or movie… even if they liked it.

- The “Follower”

They show up to as many Rob/Twilight events as possible to feel closer to him, but if they can’t do that, they’ll go after the events of his friends and fellow cast-mates. All they care about is being surrounded by the Rob inner circle.

-The “I’m Not A Stalker”

They believe that if you’ve spent a whole hour/day trying to figure out the places Rob could be at so you could “randomly” bump into him and get an autograph… it’s not stalking. This includes all those fans that went to Vancouver with Twilight book in bag, and waited outside the set/hotel/restaurant for hours and hours, and went bar hoping each night.

- The “Empathizer”

They believe they know Rob’s emotional state, to the point that they know what makes him happy, sad, angry, embarrassed, upset, etc. They try to do/stop things that could incite any of these emotions on Rob. All they care for is Rob’s physical and emotional health… pretending to be more like a mother. Rob is fragile in their eyes.

- The “Nympho”

They only think of one thing: Sex with Rob. Probably doing things to themselves while thinking of him. His fingers, hair, legs, crooked nose, eyes, dandruff, elbows… all of those things turn them on. They have dirty minds and can’t help themselves.

- The “Purists”

They believe Rob is a good person. He only smokes because someone got him addicted, and he’s trying to stop. He doesn’t do drugs or drink. He is a virgin. Of course Little Ashes is a movie not to be talked about or seen… Rob just needed money.

- The “Edwardians”

They believe Rob is Edward and he belongs with Kristen, his Bella. It is hard for them to see Rob the individual. They continuously confuse his behavior for the characters, thinking he can bite them and turn them into a vampire.

- The “Entitled”

They are quick to mention that they liked Rob way before anyone else, and hate the idea that he has so many more fans now. Rob was theirs first and anyone else that comes along doesn’t really know the real Rob and just likes him because they saw him in Twilight… and that’s a bad thing to them.

- The “Shippers”

They think the names Kristen, Nikki, Camilla, Miquita, Nina Ex, are all bad names associated with Rob. All they worry about are his relationships with females. To the point where they can’t stop talking about it or finding evidence of romanticism. They are sometimes similar to the Empathizer fans because these female friends could be harmful. The names Tom, Sam, Bobby, and Marcus are all good names and can do no harm to Rob…even if one might have supplied him with drugs.

- The “Newbies”

They are beginning to understand why Rob has such a large fan base. Most don’t know who Nina is, what How To Be is, or what Robsten is. They also get scared when they encounter one of the other types of Rob fans.

- The “Closeted”

They don’t mention their love of Rob and hide it from their husbands, boyfriends, friends, family, etc. They act as if they don’t know who Rob is, even if someone mentions how hot he is. These closet fans also lurk on boards.

New peter Interview

I asked Facinelli if he was surprised at how much the bet took off after his initial few Twitters. Said he, “Yeah, I mean, Rob came over to my house and he saw the back of my chair and was like ‘Can I have that?’ And I said, ‘No,’ but he knows I like a good bet, so he said, ‘I’ll bet you for it.’ We kind of came up with this bet. It’s not like we sat around and planned some crazy thing, and then all of a sudden we threw it on the internet, and it kind of exploded. I know a lot of people had fun with it, and I was happy that people were. It was a very entertaining week.”

Rachelle Lefevre, the red-headed Montreal-born beauty from the Twilight series of films, told MuchMusic veejay Devon Soltendieck she is currently filming Casino Jack with Kevin Spacey in town.

“It’s a Washington scandal — very different than Twilight but I hope they’ll come out and see it anyway,” Lefevre said.

In the meantime, she said the next Twilight movie, New Moon, will change people’s minds about who heroine Bella (Kristen Stewart) should end up with.

“I think the really amazing thing about New Moon is everybody is so sure they’re team Edward (Robert Pattinson as the lead vampire) — and Taylor (Lautner as Edward’s nemesis Jacob Black) is going to change your mind!”

“This is awesome. This is crazy,” said Lautner, arriving later. “Our fans are amazing. I’m just so thankful to have all these fans behind us. We wouldn’t be here without them, so it’s great to see them here tonight.”

Lautner, who grew up in Michigan, said he filmed a movie in Canada when he was 13 years old.

The only hint he would drop about New Moon is that “we get to see a bit more werewolves than vampires. I got to do almost all my stunts which was awesome because I love all the action. So it was cool that they let me do that.”

New Moon trailer before The Proposal

It is confirmed! The New Moon trailer will be shown before Sandra Bullock's new movie "The Proposal" that comes out this weekend!

Earlier this evening I attended a press screening for the new romantic comedy The Proposal starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. It is a moderately amusing film wrapped in a formulaic “chick flick” pita but that’s not the reason for this post.

The first trailer that ran in front of The Proposal was none other than Summit Entertaiment’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

The audience let out a low roar when the Summit logo came up and then you could hear a pin drop with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson on screen. Then when Taylor Lautner appeared sans shirt… well, let’s just say there are a lot of fan girls out there. The screaming continued right through the wolf transformation so I tried to focus my hearing on the guy behind me yelling “booo!” to deflect the annoying shrieks.

When The Proposal’s final box office numbers for this weekend come in keep Twilight in mind. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few million dollars aren’t solely the result of Twilighters forking out $10 to see their beloved New Moon trailer on the big screen.

I’ll give it this much: the wolf sounds a lot more menacing with the added wattage behind him. Too bad his “not quite there yet” rendering shortcomings are accentuated when blown up on the big screen.

Watch out Robert Pattinson — there’s another musical talent in the “Twilight” family. Jackson Rathbone—a.k.a vampire Jasper Cullen — is making a name for himself on the music scene with his band 100 Monkeys, and there’s a chance they might make an appearance on the “New Moon” soundtrack.

“We’d love it,” Rathbone told MTV News. “[But] we’re not really pushing for it,” he said. “It’s one of those things where if they want to put our song on the album, I’m not going to complain.” The 24-year-old describes his band’s sound as “old school rock and roll,” that is heavily influenced by blues and funk. “It’s not whiney music,” he added.

After the jump, the actor talks about his now-famous scene in the “New Moon” trailer and working with director Chris Weitz.

Rathbone doesn’t let his music get in the way of his acting, though. “Whenever I’m working on the ‘Twilight’ movies, I work all day on the film and then I go and rehearse with my band at night,” said the Texas-born actor.

Speaking of “Twilight,” Rathbone said that if fans were excited by the recently unveiled “New Moon” trailer, they will be blown away by the full-length film.

“That’s only the beginning of it,” he said of the quick scene in the trailer in which Robert Pattinson’s Edward hurls him across a room and onto a piano. “I got to do some stunts on that. It’s going to be a really action-packed movie.”

He also said that despite their new found fame, the bond between the cast members is as strong as ever. “The first day I was back [on set], all the cast was hanging out in Peter Facinelli’s [Dr. Cullen] room and it was just like a family reunion. It was kind of like we’d been away for a month. It didn’t seem like a year.”

Rathbone also said that new director, Chris Weitz, brought new energy to the set. “In terms of having a new director, nothing really changed too much,” Rathbone said. “It was just a different subtle, vibe because the director really manages the energy on set, and it was great.”

Regarding the storyline in “Moon,” Rathbone declared that he likes the fact that the sequel delves deeper into Stephenie Meyer’s fantasy.

“As you progress [into the series], you get deeper into the lore of the mythical world that we’re establishing with the werewolves, kind of getting more into what the vampire society and legacy is. … [Plus] you get the other side of that love story.

“A lot of elements that I think fans having been waiting to sink their teeth into,” Rathbone said with a smile. “Sorry, I had to use that pun!”

Jackson Rathbone, who plays vampire Jasper Hale in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, told reporters that he and the cast of the upcoming sequel are feeling the weight of the franchise’s popularity more. Oh, and he really does get hurled into a piano.

“We have a bigger budget, and we have a little bit more pressure to keep that [indie] feeling going,” Rathbone said in a group interview Tuesday in Philadelphia. “But the nice thing is that we are delving more into the story now of New Moon. But I will say that Twilight is my favorite, because it takes you into this realm, from reality into this fantasy reality, and it makes that fantasy more real. As the films progress, you get deeper into the mythical world that we are establishing, with the werewolves and what the actual vampire society and legacy is with the Volturi.”

Rathbone talked about his Twilight experience so far and his other creative side projects. New Moon, based on the second of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling Twilight books, is aiming at a Nov. 20 release. (Possible spoilers ahead!)

How does it feel going from one film franchise to possibly another with The Last Airbender?

Rathbone: I love being busy. I’m lucky enough to be working, and I like to keep working as much as possible. The way I feel is that there’s only 24 hours in a day, and I need at least 20 of them, so I only sleep four hours a night. I also have my band that I play with. Up here, whenever I’m working or when I am working on the Twilight movies, I work all day on the film and then I go and rehearse with my band all night.

What kind of music do you play?

Rathbone: It’s a band, and we travel together. We’re called 100 Monkeys. It’s old-school rock and roll. All originals that are blues- and funk-oriented. We like to have a fun show. We aren’t one of those bands that makes whiney music. We like to make music that people dance to.

There’s going to be a New Moon soundtrack. Any chance your band might do a song for it?

Rathbone: Oh we’d love it, but we’re not really pushing for it.

How does it feel to be part of the whole Twilight phenomenon?

Rathbone: With the first film it was one of Summit Entertainment’s first films. I think it was the second film they produced, the first being Never Back Down. So it was like a bigger-budget indie film, and it felt like an indie film with the way we were making it together and the way that Catherine Hardwicke directs. It was a fun vibe that was onset. But it was a little bit stressful, because as we kept filming, the press kept getting more of it and the fans were more into it. All these Web sites started popping up, like Twilight Moms. It was amazing.

We started making this movie, and people are already loving it and it’s not even out yet. It had six months to come out, and they were already lining up at the movie theaters. It was an experience in and of itself that I’ve got to say I wasn’t really prepared for, but I am thankful for, because they are so supportive of what we do. As an actor, you need an audience. I’ve done Shakespeare in Texas to an audience of three people. When everybody onstage outnumbers everybody in the audience a lot, … so it’s great to have a big audience to play to.

How did it feel going back to shoot the sequel with new director Chris Weitz?

Rathbone: It’s funny. When we got back to film New Moon, the first day, the whole cast was hanging out in Peter Facinelli’s room. It was like a family reunion. It was like we had been away a month. It didn’t seem like a year. It was nice to get back together and have that family environment.

Rathbone: It’s been lovely. For the band, we did a CD signing session, and a lot of people came up and would mention they saw the trailer. I get a lot of fan mail, which is really sweet, and a lot of it has been talking about [the] trailer and how cool it is and how excited they are. When the trailer drops, it has a whole lot more reality behind it. The fans are able to say it is coming out!

It looks like Jasper is getting some action when he’s thrown into a piano.

Rathbone: Yup, I was flying and got to do some stunts on that, and that’s only the beginning of it. They didn’t show the entire [scene]. It’s going to be a really action-packed movie. And then you have the other side of the love story. It has a lot of elements that I think the fans have been waiting to sink their teeth into. … I’m sorry. I had to use that pun. It’s terrible [laughs].
