Twilight’s Peter Facinelli, who will reprise his role as the bloodsucking father figure Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the sequel New Moon, could get used to the life of a vampire – at least when it comes to the hours they keep.

“I love night shoots. Everybody else is [tired] by like two, three in the morning, which is weird because I’m the old guy!” Facinelli tells PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past on Monday night.

“They should be the ones that should be like party hardy all night long,” jokes the 35-year-old of his young costars including Robert Pattinson, 22, Kristen Stewart, 19, and 17-year-old Taylor Lautner. “At five in the morning I was like, ‘I could go another 10 hours!’ And they were like, ‘Crash!’ ”

Also up for around-the-clock action: fans, who have been camping out on the Vancouver set despite the less-than-welcoming weather.

“The first [film] we were just hoping people went to see it. We knew there were diehard fans and those are the ones we’re like, ‘Let’s make a good movie for [them],’ but we didn’t know the diehard fans were going to explode into the amount that they did,” he says. But the father of three insists he’s nothing but grateful for the fan-demonium. “I feel loved by so many fans, like I went to Disneyland the other day, and I took like 100 pictures just walking like 10 feet … you want to give back to them.”

Channing Tatum could be Riley?

So here's an interview from Eonline with Melissa Rosenberg who writes the scripts for our beloved saga. She thinks Channing would be a perfect Riley (who in eclipse thinks that Victoria loves him) I would have to agree. He's hot enough to be a vampire:)

Also she mentions something about Breaking Dawn and how it won't be rated anymore than PG-13. So no blood and guts! :(

If Channing Tatum hasn’t read the Twilight books, he may want to start.

At least one very important person in the movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s vampire love story thinks Tatum would be perfect to play bad-boy vampire Riley in Eclipse, the third in the four-book series.

“There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well,” Twilight and New Moon screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who is currently writing the Eclipse script, told us this weekend at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival benefit for the Writers Guild Foundation.

“And there are some complexities to that character,” she adds. “He really is tragic. He’s a puppet for Victoria [bad-girl vampire played by Rachelle Lefevre]. So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn’t want him. Channing could do that beautifully.”

Rosenberg also confirmed some good news for Robert Pattinson fans…

Even though Edward Cullen may not be in the New Moon novel as much as he is in the others, she promised we’ll be seeing plenty of the Brit actor in the flick, which is currently shooting in Vancouver with director Chris Weitz.

“In the book, he’s actually an enormous presence in [Bella’s] mind,” Rosenberg said. “He’s so present in her mind throughout the entire center of the book, so we really played off that, and it kept him alive in a slightly different way, but fans will feel it’s true to the book. You can’t have a Twilight without Rob Pattinson.”

And Rosenberg says you also can’t have a Twilight movie with anything more adult than a PG-13 rating. She has yet to be hired to write the script for the fourth, Breaking Dawn, but she thinks it’s safe to assume the book’s more graphic violent scenes will be tailored to keep it accessible for Twilight’s teen moviegoing audience.

“Our fans are in the PG age range, and I don’t feel a big necessity to see violence, and to see gore,” Rosenberg said. “I don’t need to see that. This whole series is more about their relationship. It’s not about the gore. I mean, there are some scary and special elements to it, but the series is really about relationships and coming of age and owning one’s power.”

Filming at Bella's "House"

Other film sets have sprung up in Surrey over the years, but maybe none with the magnetism of this one.

A small clearing of park land is the scene for the filming of New Moon, the latest flick in the Twilight series based on the hugely popular Stephanie Meyer books.

In recent weeks, a pre-fab "house" was built in Vancouver and trucked to the grassy site in South Surrey to serve as the abode of main character Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart. In the movie, Bella falls for a vampire named Edward, played by Rob Pattinson.

The structure is nothing but a shell meant for exterior shots, but it requires around-the-clock security to keep rabid fans from doing damage to it.

It has a chimney made of flimsy styrofoam, after all.

Imported trees and rearranged telephone poles help make things look authentic, too.

Filming at the site will begin tonight (Friday), the Now has learned. City-issued signs warn of road closures starting April 24.

Despite efforts by the film company to keep it all hush-hush, a small but steady stream of fans (known as "Twilight-ers" or "Twi-Hards") and curiosity seekers has caused a commotion in the rural setting in recent days. Barricades, sometimes staffed by police, have gone up and come down at two entry points on the otherwise quiet road, depending on the time of day and the level of on-set action.

To be sure, these are interesting times for the family that lives in the lone house across the street from all the hubbub.

At 'New Moon' film sets in Vancouver, Tofino and Burnaby since mid-March, dozens of fans from as far away as Tennessee tried to sneak a peak at the stars.

"I haven't seen this kind of interest in a film before," said Cloverdale resident Christine Kilpatrick, who covers the film biz as a contributing writer for People magazine.

For security crews, it's a cat-and-mouse game keeping zealous fans from storming 'New Moon' film sets. To the chagrin of protectors, someone blurted the movie-shoot address on The Beat radio station last week. When the Now visited the scene Wednesday evening, a small group of people - mostly teen girls and women - gawked at the two-storey "house" and chatted with two non-uniformed security personnel.

One woman drove from Burnaby to get a look.

"I don't like going to the film sets when they're shooting," she said, "because there are too many crazies hiding in the trees and everywhere."

When filming starts in South Surrey, huge black screens will serve to block views of the action.

For security reasons, the Now has decided to not reveal the exact location of the film set. Even so, plugged-in fans will have little trouble finding the site through postings on Twitter and other social-networking websites.

Kilpatrick said she's surprised that so many women - as opposed to teen girls - are following the 'New Moon' action from site to site. Many of them stay connected using Twitter names dedicated to actor Pattinson, the "vampire" guy.

"Some of them keep the information (of set locations) secret - not out of respect but because they don't want anyone else going there," Kilpatrick said.

"These people just get so caught up in it, a whirlpool of excitement, this hunt. I call it vampire hunting, because they're so desperate to see these sets to get a glimpse of the stars."

Nobody knows for sure exactly how many days of filming will be done at the South Surrey set in coming weeks.

"It could go on for quite some time, with crews coming in for a few days and then leaving and coming back," a source told the Now. "Delays happen, and things can change hourly in the film biz."

After film crews leave for good, the site will be returned to its natural state at a cost shouldered by the film company.

'New Moon' is due in theatres this fall, with scenes to be shot in Italy starting sometime in May.

Larry Carroll has expressed his opinions on Eclipse's new Director, David Slade


In case you haven’t heard the news, the director of “Eclipse” has been officially chosen. And my own personal first thoughts when I heard the news? Well, I have like a million of them.

I’ve interviewed David Slade before, and he’s a very smart, charismatic guy who harnesses some immense filmmaking tools. That said, I definitely thought “30 Days of Night” was a disappointment. It had a lot of fatal flaws in it, usually whenever the blood would stop flowing and it was time for us to actually start caring about the characters. “Hard Candy” also flirted with moments of brilliance, but I still feel like Slade’s best work is ahead of him.

What I am beginning to enjoy, however, is Summit’s decision to hire a different director for each film. Which is surprising, because I was definitely hoping that Catherine Hardwicke would oversee the entire series after the first “Twilight” became such a big hit. But if you’re a movie buff (and not just a Twilighter first and foremost), this is developing into a very interesting cinematic experiment.

And whereas Weitz seems likely to try and play things closer to Hardwicke’s blueprint, Slade is the kind of proudly defiant filmmaker who will want to shake things up a bit. For better or worse, the end result is going to be a trilogy of films filtered through three very different lenses.

Will Slade depict his vampires more violently than Stephenie Meyer imagined in the novels? Will he give such thespian-minded stars as Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart the opportunity to dig deeper into the sadistic nature of Edward and Bella’s romance – or will his thirst for boy-friendly action push the film too far in the other direction? Most importantly: Does this mean that Josh Hartnett is gonna play Seth Clearwater?

All these questions, and many more, remain to be answered in the months to come.

Filming with the wolves!

This girl claims that she and her friend got to one of the sets of New Moon. It sounds pretty ligit.

Last Night we cruised many of the sets we'd previously went by and seen nothing and while passing one had some clues that perhaps they were filming.

While there had been signs for a different movie (that had apparently been filming there last week) we figured it wouldn't hurt to scope it out - just in case.... (most of our successes have been by checking out the impossible - just in case)

So we parked and walked up to the security dude and asked if we were allowed in.... he said "not with your car, but you can walk" (Well DUH we were already walking - sheesh!)

This was a private security guy - not the security team typically used, we really thought we were on another false hope.... but continued anyways.

As we got closer, there were still no signs of life... really... dark, empty, nothing...

still... we carried on - just in case.

As we got further in we came across bright blinding lights in the distance.... it was pretty far but we KNEW it meant filming - - - but of what?!?!

So we kept trekking - pitch black - but we had each other ha ha ha

Then we came across tents... these were tents similar to other sets, but again, other movies could use the same tents.... still not proof....

So finally we get to trailors - similar to other sets... and crew... no one seems familiar...

We ask one gentleman if we can head "up" (up the street where the blinding film lights are obviously coming from - - hey - might as well ask - - JUST IN CASE!!! ;) ha ha)

So he says *excited* "I wouldn't, they are bringing a WOLF down"

*inner squeeeeee* I appear calm but holy moly I was ANYTHING but calm.... a wolf?!?!?

MeMy and I exchanged glances - we'd hit the jackpot!!!

We waited and watched as two trainers brought down the most beautiful, large, wolf.

I am no animal expert so I don't know what type of wolf it was but it was big, it was grey, with bits of white in it... it was stunning to see.

We waited a bit - unsure how to proceed, but decided not to push our luck trying to go up to the actual set... instead we chatted with a crew member and figured out (as if the wold wasn't enough) that it was New Moon filming.

We did *NOT* find out who was up there - My assumption is that it would be the scene where Bella and Laurent meet and the Wolf Pack comes - or it could be background shots or other Wolf Shots.

The man who was the center of Stephanie's dream world has spoken!


How close did 25-year-old British actor Henry Cavill come to playing Edward Cullen?

“Twilight” fans have long lingered over author Stephenie Meyer’s assertion that the actor would have been her “perfect Edward,” pre-Robert Pattinson of course. Nowadays, RPattz has become the hottest young star in Hollywood, and Cavill is instead starring in the Woody Allen comedy “Whatever Works,” opening July 1. And when we caught up with him recently, the actor revealed that his star-making “casting” never made it far beyond Meyer’s lips.

“I’ve heard this, but I haven’t heard from Stephenie,” Cavill insisted, saying he’s never had any contact with the best-selling writer. “I haven’t spoken to her personally, and I haven’t spoken to the producers.”

Flashback to the early days of the “Twilight” movie, when casting was about to begin and Meyer posted the following thoughts on the movie’s lead: “Indisputably the most difficult character to cast, Edward is also the one that I’m most passionately decided upon. The only actor I’ve ever seen who I think could come close to pulling off Edward Cullen is Henry Cavill. Henry was Albert, the young son in ‘The Count of Monte Cristo.’ Can you see it? I know I can!”

After some development delays, Meyer updated her thoughts and said that Cavill had grown too old: “The most disappointing thing for me is losing my perfect Edward. … I’m not willing to relinquish Henry completely. … I propose that Henry play Carlisle!”

But regardless of Meyer’s suggestions, Twilighters would eventually fall in love with Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Peter Facinelli as his ageless father. “What I’ve heard, or pieced together from various sources, is that Stephenie had seen me in whatever jobs I had done previously, and I was probably perfect then,” grinned Cavill, remembering his near-casting. “But then, the ravages of time had taken their toll.”

Laughing, the good-natured actor added: “I hate myself.”

Ultimately, Cavill suspected, the three years between Pattinson and himself were the main obstacle that kept him from becoming Edward. “By the time the movie came around, I didn’t look right for the character,” he explained, adding: “No one even called me or my agent.”

But still, Cavill said he holds no ill will and that whenever he finds time between a busy schedule that includes “Whatever Works,” “The Tudors” and the upcoming Tarsem Singh flick “War of the Gods,” he’d like to watch Pattinson in action. “I haven’t seen it yet,” he said of the “Twilight” movie. “My brother saw it and said he loved it. I hope to check it out soon.”
